Swami Janananda sitting on one of the Astha Siddies in Guruvan.
There were eight such large stones in Guruvan, known as Asthasiddhi, the eight occult powers. They were large stones molded to facilitate anyone to sit on top of them comfortably. I have personally seen them and sat on one of them in 1960s during my visit to Kanhangad.
Swami Janananda made eight smaller versions of them and housed them under one roof. The bigger ones were removed. He must have done this with a purpose which may have to prevent misuse in future. Today they stand in a circle as eight small structures appearing like linga.
Guruvan is not a Tapo bhoomi of Bhagavan Nityananda. It was made for us to use it as one. Bhagavan Nityananda was a Janmasiddha, a born Yogi and needed no spiritual practices as He was manifestation of Supreme Consciousness. In Bhagvat Purana, Lord Krishna says that there will be no more reincarnation of Lord Mahavishnue in future. He would assume a human form and appear as a Sadguru. Sadguru is God and God is Sadguru as God manifests as a Sadguru.
Bhagvan Nityananda and Swami Samarth were such manifestations and Mahavatars of recent times. They had no gurus no disciples, they did not belong to any religion, any sect, any school of philosophy, or any race. They were independent, self-sustaining, standalone, all inclusive. They were fountainhead of all scriptures. They had total control over Panchamahabhutha. We asked about His Sadhana, He said “All that was done within Mother’s Womb. No Guru, no Sishya, Sampurna Vairagya, No desires. Gods, Goddesses, Gandharvas, Demigods, Asuras, Devas, etc stand in attention to serve
‘This One’.” On Shivratri He placed His right foot on Bhimeshwar Linga and showed to Shri Mangalore Sanjeev Klamath that He was Shiva Himself. Mr. Kamath was son of Smt. Saraswathi Bai Kamath, a direct disciple of Tulas Amma.
