YEAR 2007
This was a very significant year for the lineage of Bhagavan. In this year three Senior Devotees passed away. One was Padiyar Swam also known as Shree Sadananda Swami of Kushalnagar, Kanhangad, the second was Gopalanna of Ganeshpuri and the third was Sure MadhavHegde or Engineer Hegde as Bhagavan called him. The first two were monk devotees and Shri Hegde was a householder.
Shri Hegde passed on 07/7/2007 evening. He was the one who could offer Bhagavan coffee a few days before Mahasamadhi. He was the one whom Bhagavan transported instantaneously from the Bangalore Wala building to the top of Tungareshwar mountain and showed him hidden wealth in a pond. He was the one whom Bhagvan when requested not to take Mahasamadhi said “The Samadhi can be postponed if you can get one devotee like Pundalik to stop This One. Are you a Bhakta like Pundalik?” Mr. Hegde confessed that he was nothing but a householder devotee and could not make such a tall claim. Mr. Hegde’s life with Bhagavan was very mysterious and I have shared it elsewhere in great detail. He had come close to being a Nishkambhakta. His Bhakti was put to very severe tests and his stood up like a rock! He was a daredevil. Nobody, no priest, no Trustee could stop him from entering the sanctum sanctorum of Samadhi. He stood there with authority and offered Abhishek on Gurupurnima and Punyatithi. Whoever tried to stop him, couldn’t because of his strong personality and his immense faith in Bhagavan.
By His grace, I was deputed by Bhagavan to perform Shri Madhav Hegde’s last rites. To get to perform this ritual means one is indeed a blessed one. Like so many forms of sacrificial fire, the fire of a pyre is considered to be divine
Today’s pooja was in Shri Madhav Hegde’s punyasmaran, auspicious remembrance.
