Udupi Math

Bhagavan spent much of His time in Udupi. He was found around the Udupi Shree Krishna temple and on the veranda of Shree Ananteshwar temple. He was often in a deep trance and in that condition He spoke on Atmadnjyan. Two boys felt attracted to Bhagavan who was called Kalasadhu.  Whenever they heard Him speaking in a state of trance, they jotted down. They went home and wrote down whatever they could before Later they shared with Shree Tula’s Amma who compiled them into aphorisms and published them as Chidakasha Geeta.
In Udupi, the land of Shree Krishna, Bhagavan performed many of His Leela. It was here that many years later one devotee, Shree Situamma, set up an Ashram. Bhagavan was in Ganeshpuri then. She often came to Ganeshpuri and she used to be Devi Upasak. When I met her then in 1959 – 1960, she was given a room near the Kunda. There I saw an image of Devi kept in the room. She spoke with my mother in Kannada which I did not understand.
In 1978-79 I met her in her Udupi Math. She received me with great love and respect knowing that I had come from Bhagvan. She spoke in Hindi and assured me that Bhagavan would always stand by me. After thirty minutes of conversation, She concluded “Nityananda will lead your life. You don’t have to worry. He will stand by you every moment.” I took her blessings and left for Kanhangad. That was before I was admitted to Ph. D.
Bhagavan blessed this Math that Situamma built and dedicated to Him. He said, “There are eight Maths in Udupi and this would be Ninth Math”. The eight Maths are dedicated to Udupi Shree Krishna. This year Bhagvan’s idol was installed in grandeur never seen before. Although I would miss the old Math and Situamna’s inner Dhyana room with the Krishna statue, I have to accept the change, the Change the unchanging principle of life!
