THE SUVARNAS
The early days’ photographs of Bhagavan Nityananda were taken by devotees in Kerala and Karnataka. It was very difficult to get Him photographed as He, being a young boy, used to easily give a slip and vanish. It was only after much cajoling, forcing Him, and convincing Him, He would pose for a photograph. Because of His childlike behavior, He could sometimes be taken to a studio and photographed. In the studios, in those days, flash bulbs were used which were ‘one-time use’ ones. Thus it was one big achievement when He was successfully photographed.
The photographs of Bhagavan came only after Shri M. D. Suvarna came into the picture. Shri Suvarna owning Foto Korner at Khar, Mumbai, came to Ganeshpuri around 1954. He was a press photographer and came to Ganeshpuri to photograph Bhagavan. Bhagavan refused to be photographed and after much persistence, Bhagavan agreed with one condition that He should never be asked to pose. Thus, Shri M. D. Suvarna got to photograph Bhagavaa Nityanand and most of the pictures of Bhagavan from that day till His Mahasamadhi, most of the photographs were taken by Shri Suvarna. The world is indebted, to him for taking pictures of Bhagavan available today. He can be thus be considered as an official photographer.
The legacy left behind by the late Shri M. D. Suvarna was carried further by his children. Late Balkrishna and Shri Niranjan Suvarna made pictures of Bhagavan available to all the devotees at their studio, Foto Korner, at Khar, in Mumbai. Any devotee visiting the studio, could browse through several volumes of photo albums and select Bhagavan’s picture of their choice. To old devotees, they gave Bhagavan’s photograph free of charge. Late M. D. Suvarna had made a video shoot of Bhagavan and His devotees. Shri Niranjan Suvarna took this further by making a documentary on Bhagavan. They provided pictures of Bhagavan from different angles facilitating sculptors to make statues of Bhagavan.
Today, Shri Niranjan Suvarna is offering seva by making Bhagavan Nityananda’s pictures to His old and new devotees. In order to make these valuable photographs available across the globe, Shri Niranjan had decided to host them on the internet so that anyone can download and get these precious blessings and grace.
